My first purebred dog was an Irish Setter in the 70's. My serious journey into dogs was when our family fostered a Siberian Husky for Canine Vision Canada in 1986.  Arva’s SnowGhost Navigator One, Panda, became certified and is recognized as the first Siberian Husky to be a Guide dog for the blind.  

My involvement evolved into exhibiting Siberians in 1987 and establishing "ThundeRun" prefix in 1988.  My first litter, a Siberian litter arrived in July 1990, which resulted in 2, owner handled Champions.  Memorable group wins and a Best Brace in Show followed.     Australian Shepherds have been my breed since 1998 to 2017, with multiple Best In Show and Best Puppy In Show wins on breeder/owner/handled dogs.

I retired from Toromont Cat, a Caterpillar dealership, in 1995 where I was a Sales and Service Coordinator for Woodward Governor, a Division of Croman.

And now retired from the farming life of pedigreed seed grains and Clydesdale horses.  We had a select herd of approximately 45 horses -- all of which were homegrown; some were home bred a few generations.  The majority were brood mares that produced 6 to 10 exciting youngsters each year; a select few of which we would exhibit in Fall Fairs throughout Southern Ontario including the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto.  We entered horses in conformation line classes and hitch classes: single, teams up to a six horse hitch...breeder, owner handled, trained and driven.  There was a Hewson horse at every Royal until 2005.

Since taking a break from actively breeding dogs, I dove seriously into a career in judging.  As of June 2023, I have achieved CKC All Breed status.

Missing the excitement of competing, I re entered the conformation ring in 2024 with the newly recognized Miniature American Shepherds.  As my Veterinarian told me, “Old breeders don’t retire, they switch to a smaller breed”.  The Miniature American Shepherd is identical to the Australian Shepherd except for size.  This is where we continue the story of ThundeRun.
